Maude E. Wallace Scholarship

  • $1000 scholarship
  • Applicant must be a US Citizen & resident of VA, be a graduate of a high school in VA, plan to attend an accredited Virginia College/University and be in need of financial assistance
  • Applications are available in the Guidance Office, Deadline to apply is May 1, 2015



Ella G. Agnew Scholarship

  • $1000 scholarship, Applicant must be seeking training in a nursing career or other

medical profession

  • Applicant must be a US Citizen & resident of VA, be a graduate of a high school in VA, plan to attend an accredited Virginia College/University and be in need of financial assistance
  • Applications are available in the Guidance Office, Deadline to apply is May 1, 2015


Lord Fairfax Community College Scholarships

  • Several scholarships are available through completing 1 application, students must apply to

LFCC before completing the scholarship application

  • Deadline to complete the online application is March 31, 2015 at 4PM

Vietnam Veterans of America

·         Applicant must be the grandchild of a Veteran of the US Armed Forces who served in the Republic of Vietnam during the period of Feb. 28, 1961- May 7, 1975.

·         Applicant must reside in Shenandoah County or be related to a current member of Chapter 936.

·         Applications are available in Guidance, deadline to apply is April 15, 2015



The Armenian Education Center/Scholarship

  • Essay Question Competition open to 9 – 12 grade students
  • $1,000 scholarship to one Virginia High School Student

New Market Fraternal Order of Eagles Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a SJHS Senior & complete application and write a 400 word essay on God, Country and Flag and what each means to you and how they affect the lives of everyone.
  • Applications are available in Guidance , the deadline is March 31, 2015


The Esperanza Education Fund

  • $5000 – $20,000 scholarships
  • Must be born outside the US or have 2 parents born outside the US
  • Must be a graduating senior at a high school in VA, MD or DC.
  • Must enroll FT at an accredited Public College/University in the 2015-16 academic yr.

The Valley Educational Center for the Creative Arts (VECCA)Art/ Music Scholarship

  • $500 scholarship
  • Applicants must be graduating high school art/music students from SCPS who have participated in at least 3 semesters in the art/music program & demonstrate dedication to their education.
  • Applications are available in Guidance, deadline to apply is April 22, 2015


Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Foundation Burgess & Julia Nelson Scholarship

  • Open to Shenandoah County residents only, 1 scholarship per SCPS High School
  • Must be a senior in good standing
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
  • Cumulative GPA 3.5+ and/or combined SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24
  • Scholarship is $8,000 divided over a 4 year period
  • Applications are available in the Guidance Office  Deadline is March 31, 2015


Shenandoah Valley-Herald Leadership Award

  • $500 award
  • Applicant must be strong in traits which exemplify high moral character,  show initiative, and have occupied positions in leadership
  • Applications are available in the Guidance Office, deadline is April 7, 2015


Virginia Farm Bureau Rural Health Essay Scholarship Contest

  • $500-$1000 award
  • Must be a high school or college student from a county Farm Bureau member-household
  • Must prepare a typed essay of no fewer than 400 words, titled “My Future Career in Rural Health in VA”  Visit https://vafarmbureau.org/MemberPrograms/ContestandAwards.aspx
  • Deadline is March 31, 2015

Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association Scholarship

·         $200 scholarship for a senior in each county/area

·         Must be accepted to an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university

·         Must demonstrate an interest in Horticulture, Agriculture or other related science.

·         Applicant must have an overall 3.0+ GPA and a 3.5 GPA in related science classes.

·         Must submit a letter of recommendation from a member of the science faculty.

·         Must have volunteered time during high school to a volunteer agency such as 4H, FFA, other community organization, letter from the student’s supervisor from such organization

·         Applications are available in Guidance, deadline to mail in application is March 31, 2015

 

2015 George W. Shreckhise Memorial Scholarship

  • Applicant must plan to attend Blue Ridge Community College or Lord Fairfax Community College and  intend to major in Horticulture/Arboriculture and who plan to work in the field upon completion of their studies or be in the
  • The College Transfer Program at Blue Ridge Community College who will transfer to Virginia Tech to attain their Bachelor of Science in Horticulture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
  • Or attend Virginia Tech and plan to attain their Bachelor of Science in Horticulture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
  • Consideration will be given to the student's character, determination, self-motivation, leadership qualities, and community involvement. Eligible students may reside from any part of Virginia; however, the committee will give special consideration to students from the Shenandoah Valley.

Helen Hopper Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship

·         $1000 Scholarship

·         Must be a VA high school senior planning to attend college with a major in Family Life Education

·         Must plan on pursuing a Master’s Degree in a Family Life program, who plans to teach the subject

·         Applications are due by April 15, 2015  and are available at http://vatfacs.squarespace.com/scholarships/

 

Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute Scholarship

·         Two scholarships available, 1 for part-time and 1 for full-time students. 

·         Applicants must plan to major in the criminal justice field at a VA college/university

·         Applications are available at https://vasheriffsinstitute.org/scholarship/

·         Deadline to apply is May 1, 2015.  Contact Sgt. R Mauck for Letter of Recommendation from VA Resident Sheriff at 459-6104.

 

Marge Moyers Memorial Scholarship

  • $8,000 scholarship payable over four consecutive years

  • Applicants must plan to go into education, be a current Shenandoah County high school senior in

good standing

  • Applications are available in Guidance Office; deadline is March 31, 2015



NAEHCY Scholarship Fund

  • At least 2 $2,000 Scholarships will be awarded

  • Applicants must be homeless or have been homeless during their k-12 school attendance, and who have demonstrated average or higher than average achievement
  • Applications are available at www.naehcy.org  Deadline to apply is June 19, 2015

 

Shenandoah Forum College Scholarship

·         Applicant must be a senior graduating in 2015, who will be attending a 2-yr/4-yr college/post-secondary institution. Must have a 2.5+ GPA

·         Must plan to major in a course curriculum related field that supports their mission (agriculture, rural land use, community development, environmental science, or related subjects relevant to preserving/enhancing Shenandoah County’s rural agricultural heritage

·         Applications are available in Guidance, deadline is April 17, 2015

 

2015 Student-View Scholarship Program

·         $500-$4,000 Scholarships

·         Deadline is April 22, 2015

 

SJHS Alumni Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a member of the current graduating class of Stonewall Jackson High School
  • Applicant must have attended SJHS for at least six semesters.
  • Application must include 3 letters of recommendation and a transcript
  • Applications are available in Guidance, and are due to Guidance by April 10, 2015


Alpha Delta Kappa/Alpha Omicron Chapter Scholarship

  • $500 Scholarship
  • Applicant must be planning to declare education as major, a resident of Shenandoah County, possess qualities of initiative, good character, motivation, pleasant personality, leadership & good citizenship.
  • Applications are available in Guidance, deadline to apply:  Postmarked by April 17, 2015



West Shenandoah Ruritan Club Good Will – Community Service – Fellowship Scholarships

Helene Albright Scholarship

  • $1000 scholarship to a student at one of the public county high schools
  • Applicant must be of Latino heritage, which is defined as having at least 1 parent recognized as Latino, and Spanish is the native language of that parent’s heritage
  • Applications are available in Guidance, deadline is  postmarked by April 1, 2015


“Butch” Orndorff Scouting Scholarship

·         Applicant must have been active in Boys Scouts of America scouting program for at least 3 years

·         Must be a member of a troop in Shenandoah County in his graduation year

·         Applications are available in Guidance, Deadline is Postmarked by April 1, 2015

 

Republican Women of Shenandoah County Scholarship

·         3 Awards

·         Applicant must reside in Shen. Co., be a high school senior at 1 of the 3 area high schools

·         Applications are available in Guidance, deadline to mail your application is April 3, 2015

 

VAPT Clyde W. Morris Memorial Scholarship

  • $2500
  • Must be a Virginia Public School Senior w/a 3/0+ GPA &
  • Parent or Grandparent must be currently employed or formally employed in the public school pupil transportation field in VA.

VAPT Sonny Merryman Memorial Scholarship

  • $2500
  • Must be a Virginia Public School Senior w/a 3.0+ GPA &
  • Parent or Grandparent must be currently employed or formally employed in the public school pupil transportation field in VA.

Elizabeth Kleese Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be a graduating student carrying a GPA of 2.0 or better and plan to enroll in high education
  • Applicants must include an essay about how they have personally faced challenges and continued to persevere.
  • Applications are available in Guidance and must be received by mail to the scholarship committee no later than May 1, 2015


Mt. Jackson – Edinburg Rotary Club Scholarship

  • Applicant should have school and community involvement, leadership and academics.
  • Must be a senior who will pursue higher education at either a 2 or 4 year institution.
  • Applications are available in Guidance, Deadline to apply is April 29, 2015
